Do you like fashion? Do you enjoy drawing? Well, now you have the perfect excuse to combine both interests by attending a series of fashion illustration workshops starting this autumn. From the museus are delighted to be collaborating with local fashion artist and illustrator Lucy Victoria Davis and her project ARTiMODA.
It all starts with an introductory session “DRAWING FASHION: taster workshop” on Saturday the 19th of October from 10am till 1pm at the Museum. In this session, we take a little look at the history of fashion illustration and the techniques and styles used by some of the most important illustrators of the 20th Century as well as contemporary artists. We will experiment and play with creative techniques used in fashion illustration and create our own illustrations, interpretations inspired by the style, techniques and materials used by some of the artists we have looked at.
This is a wonderful opportunity to have a go at fashion illustration, meet Lucy and get to know more about her project and to sign up for one or more of the following four workshops in the series “DRAWING FASHION: an introduction to fashion illustration”.
Unlike other courses, the workshops are specifically small in size and offer personalised tuition and demonstrations by Lucy. Lucy interweaves snippets of art and design history with hands-on creativity. The sessions are held in English or Spanish and all levels are welcome. Lucy’s workshops are the perfect excuse to practice a little English whilst also being creative.
Students learn tips and secrets discovered through years of experience as a designer and illustrator. Apart from a Bachelor’s Degree in the History of Art and Design, a Masters Degree in Communication and Advertising, Lucy also holds a CELTA certificate for teaching English as a foreign language.
In the workshops students will learn the basics of fashion illustration: drawing of the human figure and poses, playing with different media such as pencil, charcoal, markers, watercolours and pastels. Students will begin to create their own style and create a portfolio of work to take home.
No experience is necessary, just bring your passion for fashion and drawing!
