This forum, organised by the Institute of Textile Research and Industrial Cooperation of Terrassa (INTEXTER) brought researchers, businesspeople and professionals from the textile sector together at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Its main message was regarding how urgent it is to act to change business models in terms of the triple balance (economic, social and environmental) to gear them towards the sustainability of our planet.

University students and researchers connected with INTEXTER attended the event with interesting projects such as the “cottonisation” of hemp, obtaining threads from used fabrics and various ways of treating waste water from textile production.

Furthermore, businesses both small and large, such as Hilaturas Ferre, H&M and Back to Eco, among others, presented their developments. The actions, projects and models presented were in line with the implementation of a circular textile economy: promoting products that will never become waste but rather new raw materials for the sector at the end of their lives.

This is a very interesting annual event which is becoming a must in the schedule of professionals and businesses in the textile sector that are willing to boost their competitiveness based around sustainable values.
